The attorney general of Uganda has filed a notice that he will appeal last week's ruling by the Constitutional Court that struck down the Anti-Homosexuality Act enacted in February, according to Nicholas Opiyo, one of the attorneys on the legal team challenging the law.

A copy of the notice was not immediately available, but Opiyo — who is in Washington for events surrounding the U.S.-African Leaders Summit — told BuzzFeed another lawyer on the legal team had been formally served notice late Friday Uganda time.

This may cast a shadow over a pride event that Ugandan LGBT activists are preparing to hold in Kampala on Saturday.

The Constitutional Court struck down the Anti-Homosexuality Act last Friday on technical grounds, saying that Parliament had broken its own rules when it voted on the bill on December 20, because not enough members of Parliament were in the chamber to conduct official business when the vote was held.
