Marriage is sacred. Except when it isn’t.
This is what happens when you plot opposition to same-sex marriage against divorce rates. One country stands out for its unique attitude to marriage: Russia.
BuzzFeed commissioned YouGov and its International Omnibus service to survey over 20,000 people in 20 countries to measure opposition to same-sex marriage. (YouGov chose the countries where the survey would be carried out.) BuzzFeed compared these figures to divorce rates in the 18 countries with recent figures available.
